Blinkers

You can lead the blinkered horse to water, but it’ll swear it’s sand
You can try and penetrate an ego that’s left a good brain blind
You can use your logic to unlock the iron doors in time
You can listen to a word of wisdom whilst ignoring mine -

- Despite the fact they’re both the same, one man’s words and mine
It’s like this though the whole world over, it happens all the time
One man’s holiday or craic is someone else’s crime
Black and blue not black and white as conflict is divine

It says it in a book we read, heathens shall bite the dust
Love our lord or taste my sword in our good book we trust
It’s for your good and for our God that we shall hate your life
So submit to our lord right now or be prepared for strife

It’s not to say we’re wise enough, discerning strings are plucked
As an Austrian named Adolf proved it’s easy to corrupt
An ego is a funny thing it hides in self-drilled holes
In order to stay resolute and not corrupt our souls

What now, what next, what shall we do and what is going on?
Why can’t we all admit mistakes get up and move along?
Instead we’ll drag these bags of bull inflated like balloons
And though we strut like super apes, inside you’ll find buffoons

Bouncing throwing shit about, harping on and saying nout
Fuck that’s not what lifes about, I’m sure a fool can work this out
And yet we learn not to learn and teach ourselves not to discern
Making lead from gold in turn as words of wisdom paper burn
